On Tuesday, April 1st nearly 200 local community members showed up for the final City Council Candidates Forum, hosted by the four Malibu PTA's and AMPS. It was a very successful event with a packed room full of engaged local residents.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to several people who made it possible:
First of all, to our moderator: Past California State PTA President and past SMMUSD board member
Pam Brady. Pam put in no small amount of work as moderator, providing the forum structure, selecting the questions from what was submitted by the community and moderating throughout the nearly two-hour long event.
Rosalee Brooks Merrick, for making sure everything was set up and situated for the evening.
Malibu High School teachers
Adam Panish, Sarah Ryan and Melisa Andino for soliciting student questions and and collecting all questions submitted by the community.
Reverend
Joyce Stickney and Pastor Greg Hughes for stepping up and agreeing to act as our on-site audience-question selectors.
Our student volunteers, Winona and Nick, for serving as time-keepers and staying out late on a school night!
And to
Denise Hayman, Stacey Rouse, Michelle Russo and Amy Young, all four Malibu PTA Presidents, for co-hosting this event with us and helping to get the word out.
Lastly, thank you to all five candidates for participating in the forum and enduring the multiple rounds of questions.
Again, thank you to everyone for attending and submitting thoughtful questions. We are fortunate to live in a community where so many want to be informed and participate in the democratic process.
